Online 8-Hour MOUD Training

Comprised of modules from the revised SUD 101 Core Curriculum, this 8-module online course can be taken at participants’ own pace.


Online 8-Hour MSUD Training

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

At the end of the 8 hour course, you will receive a course completion certificate for 8.0 nursing continuing professional development contact hours (8.0 contact hours in pharmacology) provided by APNA.


Online 16-Hour MOUD Training

Comprised of modules from the revised SUD 101 Core Curriculum, this 16-Hour Training provides an excellent overview of SUD in general and MOUD specifically. Participants will receive individual CE certificates from each module and upon completion of all 16 modules will receive a certificate indicating they completed the 16-Hour MOUD Training. Please note that modules completed as part of the previous 16-Hour PA Buprenorphine Training will NOT carry over. However existing progress on the revised SUD 101 Modules will count towards this new 16-Hour Training.

Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

PA AAPA Category 1 CME

AAPA Credit Designation Statement – Enduring Material (8 Hour): American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 8 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Navigating the New DEA 8-Hour Training Requirement for SUDs: What Prescribers Should Know

A new law soon goes into effect that requires new or renewing DEA licensees, as of June 27, 2023, to have completed a total of at least eight hours of training on opioid or other substance use disorders and the appropriate treatment of pain. Dr Yngvild Olsen, director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, joins American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry to discuss the requirements going into effect, what should clinicians know about the changes, and how to best prepare.
