Join this PCSS-MOUD Clinical Roundtable led by Lead Mentor Anthony Dekker, DO as he discusses substance use disorder and how it affects adolescents. He will discuss why adolescents are more susceptible to substance use disorder and how to discuss these issues with them.
At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:
- List the characteristics of adolescence that increase risk for substance use, experimentation and abuse of psychoactive substances
- Describe the approach to adolescent patients to enhance exchange of information and decrease the impact of substance use disorder (SUD) issues
- Discuss the concerns of non-intentional overdoses for youth with synthetic opioids and combinations of other substances.
NOTE: A recording of the slideshow presentation will be posted to the PCSS-MOUD website within two weeks of the date of this roundtable. To encourage participants to speak freely, recordings of the discussion portion of the roundtable will not be made available and the recording will not be designated for CME credit.
