Screening, Brief Interventional and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is an evidence-based practice that has shown significant success in identifying problematic use and in reducing excessive use of substances in patients with substance use disorders.  This webinar will detail the benefits of SBIRT, the appropriate screening tools to use and how to use these to facilitate change-focused conversations.

At the conclusion of this activity participants should be able to:

  • Describe the benefits and impact of SBIRT in varied settings
  • Identify appropriate screening tools for substance use
  • Understand the substance use spectrum to guide management
  • Summarize components of a brief intervention that can facilitate change-focused conversations
  • Determine appropriate follow-up and referral recommendations
