Webinar Description:

This 6-episode webinar series will explore comprehensive approaches to opioid treatment, covering public health strategies, the roles of medical professionals, addiction psychiatrists, counselors, peer support, and ethical considerations for justice-involved individuals.

Our sixth and final webinar in the series will explore ethical, clinical, and practical issues when assessing and treating individuals in drug treatment courts, those referred by supervision officers, those incarcerated, and those otherwise involved in the justice system. Learn how to deliver person-centered care that respects client choice and is consistent with court mandates and expectations. Understand the role of the addiction professional when the Court and the Client have different goals.

Educational Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to identify and address ethical, clinical, and practical issues when assessing and treating individuals involved in drug treatment courts and the justice system.
  • Participants will be able to incorporate person-centered care strategies that respect client choice while adhering to court mandates and expectations in their work.
  • Participants will be able to navigate the role of the addiction professional when balancing the differing goals of the court and the client.
