Biden-Harris Administration Calls for Historic Levels of Funding to Address Addiction and Overdose

The Biden-Harris Administration submitted to Congress the President’s Budget for fiscal year (FY) 2022. The Budget invests an unprecedented $41 billion in public safety and public health approaches to address addiction and the overdose epidemic, including significant increases for prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. Within the budget, more than 57% of all requested funds are for demand reduction activities, a category that includes prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and recovery.
