Presenter(s): Nick Szubiak, Director of Clinical Excellence in Addictions at the National Council for Behavioral Health
Brad DeCamp, former Ohio State Opioid Treatment Authority

About the Webinar: With assistance from a 2016 PCSS-MAT Mini Grant, the National Council for Behavioral Health (NCBH) developed a three-part webinar series focused on the successful implementation of medication assisted treatment (MAT) within an organization.  This webinar was the third in the series.

The use of pharmacotherapy in conjunction with psychosocial services, a modality known as medication-assisted treatment (MAT), has become one of the most effective evidence-based treatment options for opioid use disorder. Yet many prescribers and administrators across the country don’t offer MAT due to reimbursement and coverage uncertainties. While MAT financing can vary across provider type, state, and payer engagement, there are several common factors all organizations should consider to ensure sustainability and long-term success of MAT services and programs.

Educational objectives:

  • Identify financial considerations for successfully implementing and sustaining MAT in a primary or behavioral health practice setting
  • Describe common models used to implement and finance MAT in a number of practice settings
